A double from loanee Finn O’Boyle sent the Celt Army into the half-time break a goal to the good after former Farsley player Jimmy Spencer had earlier put the league leaders at the start of the day, a goal ahead.
Curzon’s hopes were stretched even further eight minutes into the second half when Devon Matthews received his second yellow card before DJ Sturridge rubber-stamped victory for the Celts on 72 minutes.
After a fairly quiet opening 20 minutes, Farsley who were today coached by Chris Atkinson, had a couple of chances to break the deadlock with Joao Silva seeing his shot saved by Bobby Jones, before Aiden Walker headed narrowly wide from Sam Fielding’s floated free kick.
Farsley goalkeeper Kieran Flavell made a good stop to deny Spencer on 25 minutes but the ex-Celt had more success seven minutes later as he found the target as he got on the end of a corner to put the Tameside outfit ahead.
A defensive error allowed Spencer a free shot at goal two minutes later but thankfully for the Celts, he fired over this time.
But Farsley soon responded and were level on 39 minutes as Isaac Abankwah threaded the ball through to O’Boyle and the on-loan Wigan Athletic midfielder finished coolly for his first goal in a Farsley shirt.
And O’Boyle found the target again just before the break as he sent a brilliant volley past Jones to see Farsley lead at the interval.
O’Boyle could’ve completed a 10-minute hat-trick just after the break but his effort on 48 minutes was stopped by Jones this time.
Curzon’s front man Spencer was again flouted by Flavell who made a pivotal save to keep the Celt Army ahead on 51 minutes.
The hosts’ task became tougher still two minutes later when Matthews was issued his marching orders having hauled down Celts wing back Cole Hyde as he advanced through on goal.
The East Manchester side were still causing threats though, so when Farsley sub Strurridge went on one of his trademark incisive runs before firing home to make it 3-1, it allowed the visitors to breathe a little easier for the remainder of the Boxing Day clash.
Sturridge came close to adding a fourth seven minutes from time, but a similar run and shot saw this effort fly just wide of the target.
The impressive win now puts Farsley six points clear of the relegation places, ahead of New Years’ Day’s crucial visit to Radcliffe, with the Bury based side sat just below them in the table.
