Today, our thoughts are firmly with Lewis Turner and his family. This week has been a stark reminder of how precious life is. Seeing Lewis in such a difficult situation has shown us that there is far more to life than football, more than playing or coaching. It’s about being present with those we love.
Despite everything, Lewis has been an inspiration. His resilience, spirit, and leadership have shone through. He is a true role model, a soldier in every sense. The strength and unity we witnessed on Tuesday were incredible. From Megan, Soki, Umar, and the players looking after each other, to the outstanding support from Gateshead’s management team, physios, paramedics, and fans, it was heartwarming. The way the club came together in that moment of adversity was nothing short of exceptional, and we are deeply grateful to everyone who played a part.
On the football front, we continue to deal with injuries to Darren Stephenson and Ben Atkinson who remain sidelined, as well as Ryan Watson who is suspended. Sam Fielding is unfortunately out with illness this morning. However, we welcome Finn O’Boyle, a talented central midfielder from Wigan, joining us on a one-month loan. Finn impressed in training on Thursday, and we are excited to see what he can bring to the team. Aiden Walker comes in the bench who has had a lengthy layoff so that’s great news for us.
Today, we take to the field with Lewis as our inspiration. If we can match even a fraction of his work ethic, courage, and resilience, we’ll make him proud. Let’s give it everything, this one’s for you, Lewis.
Come on, Celts!
