Farsley Celtic face a monumental FA Cup clash with Kettering Town at Nethermoor Park on Saturday with the winner earner a place in the First Round Proper.

The Celts have the chance to create history when they take on the Southern League Central side, as a victory would see them into the First Round Proper of the competition for the first time since 2010 when Farsley reformed.

They’ll face an in-form Kettering Town at Guiseley’s Nethermoor Park; the Poppies were on a five game winning streak before their 2-0 defeat to Gainsborough Trinity in the FA Trophy last weekend.

Farsley come into the fixture off the back of a well-earned 0-0 draw at Chester in the National League North where the Celts weathered waves of attack from the Cheshire side, earning an important point to keep their strong form running.

Celts Manager Pav Singh is relishing the chance to take Farsley into the first round, saying: “Tomorrow isn’t just another game; it’s a chance to push our limits.

“What we showed in training – that spirit, that connection, that’s what will carry us through.

“We’ve worked hard, we’ve believed and now it’s time to leave everything on the pitch.”

On his side’s preparation for the encounter, Singh said: “Thursday night (training) was everything I wanted it to be – fun, intense and focused. The way we trained is how we’ll play tomorrow; with energy, purpose and joy.

“When we’re at our best, we can take on anyone.”

On the harmony of the squad, Singh commented: “No matter the result, what we’ve built here is special.

“Training sessions like Thursday show that we’re not just a team, we’re a unit. We fight for each other, we challenge for each other and that’s what makes us strong.

“These lines capture the balance between fun and intensity in training, while building excitement for the match tomorrow.”

In a message to the Farsley Celtic supporters, Singh also said: “It’s about giving our all for the badge and our supporters. Our management team has laid the groundwork, the fans will lift us, and it’s up to us to make this moment ours.

“We don’t stand alone; our fans are with us, every chant, every cheer. And with the management team behind us, we have everything we need.

“The hard work and now it’s about enjoying the moment and playing with freedom and confidence.”

The Celts came through the Chester clash with no fresh injury concerns, as they await the return of Rudy Misambo.

KETTERING TOWN

The Poppies are flying high in the Southern League Central, sitting in third on 17 points after nine games with one game in hand on both the sides above. They defeated St. Ives Town 3-0 in the previous round of the competition.

LAST TIME OUT

The two sides last faced off in the 2022/23 season where Farsley avoided the drop on the final day at the expense of the Poppies. The Celts had the best of the fixture during that season, winning 2-0 at The Citadel in October 2022 before a goalless draw at Kettering in February 2023.
