Farsley Celtic are delighted to confirm the appointment of Keith Thompson as our Women’s General Manager.
Born in Newcastle, Keith Thompson played non-league football for Knaresborough Town, Harrogate Railway & North Shields, before coaching at North Shields JFC, Pannal Sports & Harrogate Gateway DFC.
He also was involved in setting up a grassroots mental health team at Pannal Sports JFC, and then became the joint founder of “Think with your Feet” at Middlesbrough FC Foundation which was geared towards 18-25 year-olds with various mental health issues.
As Farsley Celtic Women’s General Manager, Keith will work alongside Women’s Manager Jamie Sykes, assisting with all of the off-the-field duties involved in the running of the women’s section.
Following his appointment, Farsley’s new Women’s General Manager said: “I’m passionate about grassroots football, especially after being involved as the Secretary of the Harrogate & Craven JGFL for 10 seasons & developing the women’s football within a very passionate well run club with great volunteers that care about the club & game in general.
“At Farsley, I want to achieve the sky with the squad going forward & reach a level which can be maintained by the players & the club both in realistic measures.
“We want to fill the trophy cabinet every season, and most importantly see the girls happy, smiling, content & developing each season.”
Chief Executive Josh Greaves commented:” I am really pleased that we have appointed Keith to this exciting new role at the club.
“Keith’s wealth of experience within women’s and girl’s football is vast and we feel that Keith will bring a new lease of life to the Women’s section at the club.
“Keith will now take the reins and lead the women’s section going forward; he has some great ideas and enthusiasm that we need to keep growing the women’s section at the club.”
