The midfielder, signed on Tuesday, gives his first interview with the club as pre-season training gets underway.
It’s an exciting time to be involved with Farsley Celtic, as the club gears up for its sixth straight season in the National League North and Danny Greenfield is relishing being part of the club after joining on Tuesday.
On signing for the club, Danny said: “I’m buzzing. I’ve had some really good conversations with Pav (Singh). Had my first training session on Saturday and got to meet all of the boys. I already know quite a few of them like Watto, Sam (Fielding), I’ve played against Chris (Atkinson) a few times so I’m really looking forward to getting going now.”
On what fans and players can expect from him this season, Danny commented: “I’ll bring energy, I’ll be all over the pitch, chipping in with goals and assists. I had a good season last time out with stats so I’m just trying to build on that.”
Players often like to set themselves targets ahead of a new campaign, and Danny is no different, with him setting out his personal aims: “Again goals and assists. That’s what I base my game off of and bringing energy to the team. So my target is to keep adding to last season, try surpass those numbers to help the team out as much as I can.”
With the first match of the season against Dearn & District looming around the corner, Danny outlined his eagerness to get going in pre-season, saying: “I’m really excited. Like I say we’ve got another training session tonight (Tuesday), had a really good one on Saturday.
“We need to get that team spirit going if we want to have a positive season so the first match of pre-season is always one to look forward to after the runs we’ve got planned tonight so I’m just looking forward to getting to the games and hopefully having a strong and positive season.”
You can see Danny and the rest of the squad in pre-season training once again this week, with another training session on Thursday at 7pm, before the Celts’ first pre-season friendly away at the Welfare Ground on Saturday from 12:30pm.
