Farsley Celtic will be looking to continue their unbeaten start to the season at home this weekend as the Celts welcome Banbury United to The Citadel.

It’s been a solid start to the season for Farsley Celtic with Clayton Donaldson’s side sat bang in the middle of the table in 12th after nine matches played with the Celts notching up three wins, four draws and two losses.

In their most recent encounter, the Celts fell to a 3-0 defeat away at Scarborough Athletic in the FA Cup, after a 1-1 draw at The Citadel last weekend forced a Tuesday night replay between the two sides, in which an injury hit Farsley team came out on the losing side of.

Farsley remain one of the only unbeaten teams at home so far this season with all four of those draws coming at The Citadel, meaning that while they are yet to be bested on home soil, the Celts are still searching for their thirst three points at home, with their three victories coming away at Rushall Olympic, Bishop’s Stortford and Gloucester City.

They will be hoping to clinch that first home win this Saturday when Banbury United make the long trip up from Oxfordshire.

Banbury, currently managed by Mark Jones, have also enjoyed a solid start to the new season as they currently sit in 15th place, two points off of Farsley.

In their most recent league encounter, Banbury recorded their biggest win of the season so far after defeating newly-promoted Warrington Town 3-0 at home.

The Oxfordshire based side are alike Farsley in the fact that they also have three wins to their name, with their other two victories coming away at Gloucester City and at home to Chester FC.

Last season, Farsley had the best of Banbury after the Celts took four points over the two fixtures, after a comfortable 3-1 victory at home where goals from Lewis Butroid, Jimmy Spencer and Carlton Ubaezuonu secured the points for Farsley, as well as an entertaining 2-2 draw at The Banbury Plant Hire Community Stadium where Frank Mulhern scored the goal of the season with an incredible effort from the halfway line.

It is sure to be an intriguing encounter on Saturday at The Citadel, as both sides will be looking for maximum points in order to put more daylight between themselves and the relegation zone, as well as close the gap on the promotion playoffs.
