We are delighted to announce the signing of defender Rudy Misambo!
The 29-year-old is the latest addition to the Farsley squad after most recently having spent a spell at Northern Premier League side Lancaster City.
Having also represented clubs such as Hednesford, Spalding and Redditch before departing to the North West to play for Northwich and Prestwich Heys, Rudy is known for his strong physical attributes including pace and strength which makes him a commanding presence at the back as well being a threat from set pieces.
Director of Football Pav Singh commented:
“Rudy is a very talented player who will compliment our squad very well. He skill set makes him the perfect partner for our other defensive minded players as he brings his own set of qualities and attributes to the squad.
“Rudy gives us more flexibility, allowing us to look at new formations and new styles of play. He is also strong in one-on-one situations giving the players around him more freedom in their own game.
“Rudy ticked all of the boxes in our defensive player analysis during our due diligence period, and we believe that with the quality of the management team and coaching staff we have in place we can develop him further into one of the best defenders in the league”
Chairman Paul Barthorpe said :
“Rudy is a top class performer, at 6’4” with power, pace and good ball-playing skills, Rudy has all the attributes required in a top performing defender!
“If you haven’t seen Rudy play yet, you are in for a real treat! He has to spend five minutes after each game taking the opposition strikers out of his pockets!
“He adds a new skill set to us in both an attacking and defending sense of the game. His physical attributes make him a danger at set pieces as well as a commanding presence at the back and his pace allows him to cover along the whole back line.
“He has a good footballing brain and is quick to read danger, his all business and no nonsense playing style is perfectly suited to play at this level.
“Always happy to talk and interact with supporters, as well as being a genuinely nice guy, he will fit in very well with the squad and supporters alike, and I’m sure it won’t be too long until we hear “Ruuuuuudy” reverberating around the Citadel.”
