Farsley Celtic managed to make it 10 league wins in a row as they put 10 goals past visitors Crofton Sports to leapfrog Burley Trojans and reclaim top spot in the league.

The bulk of the Celts’ scoring came in the first half, and they were able to withstand a spell of Crofton pressure in the second half in order to claim their first clean sheet in the league since November.

Farsley took the lead early on when Demi Pringle linked up well with new strike partner Keegan Lambert who rounded the keeper before slotting it home to give the Celts the lead.

Lambert managed to get her brace a minute or so later with a left-footed finish that rippled the side netting.

Pringle then was able to join her strike partner on the scoresheet when she poked her shot passed the onrushing Crofton keeper to make it 3-0 in the opening 5 minutes.

Rachel Dean soon got in on the act, as her shot from distance extended the lead as she caught the Crofton keeper out at her near post.

Pringle made it 5-0 after a clever bit of skill saw her round the Crofton ‘keeper and roll the ball into an empty goal.

Lambert managed to get her hattrick with just under 10 minutes left of the first half as she reacted first when the visitors’ shot-stopper couldn’t keep hold of the initial strike by Pringle.

Ebony Hartnett made it 7-0 just on the verge of halftime with a spectacular strike from distance that snuck just under the crossbar.

The scoring didn’t stop there in the first half as skipper Lauren Rigby got on the scoresheet, her cross from the left-hand side of the box evading everyone and finding the top right corner.

Crofton came out an improved side after the break, and Reya Wilks was forced into action for the first time, denying the visitors’ attacker with her feet from close range after Farsley failed to clear the initial freekick.

However, despite the visitors’ improvements, they would have little joy, and it would be the Celts who were on target next. Lambert got her fourth and Farsley’s first goal of the second half with just under ten minutes to play to make it 9-0 when she was picked out superbly by Shirley Murphy.

The Celts managed to make it a double-digit scoring tally when substitute Shirley Murphy scored after the Crofton ‘keeper misjudged the flight of the Farsley corner, before Murphy swept it home to make it 10-0 to cap off a great afternoon for Jamie Sykes’ side.
