New boys Rushall Olympic are certain to provide a stern test when they travel to The Citadel on Saturday – but Celts skipper Chris Atkinson says his in-form side are looking forward to the challenge.
The visitors have won their last two games against Spennymoor and Chester but speculation has this week has linked their top scorer Danny Waldron with a move to Southend. Waldron is also the joint top scorer in the National League North with 16 goals and scored twice in last week’s 4-3 thriller against Spennymoor.
But Chris says the Celts, who won 2-0 at Rushall on the opening day of the season, go into the game with confidence after a fine win against high flying Scarborough last week and some strong performances.
“It will be another tough test,” said Chris. “Rushall have picked up of late and have made a lot of changes since we played them first game of the season. So we know it’s going to be another difficult game!
“We just need to concentrate on ourselves and keeping performing how we have been recently. Hopefully we can go on a little run now and see where it takes us.”
Chris thought the performance against Scarborough throughly warranted all three points.
“I thought it was an excellent performance all round,” he said. “The gaffer and Coulo were causing their defence a lot of problems by getting down the sides of them, which is a nightmare for any defender.”
