Farsley Celtic return to National League North action this weekend when the Celts take on Leamington at the Impact Arena
It’s Farsley’s first ‘home’ fixture of the season after the Celts played their first eight away from home, however the match will be played at Alfreton Town’s Impact Arena while work continues at The Citadel.
Newly promoted Leamington are the opposition for today’s game as the focus returns to the league after a successful FA Cup weekend for Farsley after Pav Singh’s side ran out 3-1 winners over Hallam FC at Sandygate.
Pav Singh is expecting a tough match from the Brakes, saying: “I’m looking forward to today’s match against Leamington. As with every match at this level it will be a physical encounter.
”It’s a strange one as it is technically a home fixture for us, but we’re excited to see our travelling fans.
”It’s great to have DJ Campton-Sturridge and Tom Wooster back in the squad.
”We had a brilliant training session this week with the lads full of energy and now they’re raring to go!
”Let’s go, Celts!”
TEAM NEWS
As mentioned above, the Celts welcome back forward DJ Campton-Sturridge as well as loanee goalkeeper Tom Wooster.
LEAMINGTON FC
After being relegated from the National League North in the 2022/23 season, Leamington made an immediate return to the division after defeating AFC Telford in the Southern League Premier Central Division play-off final.
They’re managed by Paul Holleran and currently sit 18th in the league after strong run of form which has seen them unbeaten in their last four matches with a 2-1 win at home to Rushall followed by draws with Marine and Warrington on the road before a 1-0 win over Carlton in the FA Cup last weekend.
LAST TIME OUT
The two sides last faced each other in March 2023 in a snowy encounter at The Citadel where Lewis Turner cancelled out Yashir Pinto’s opener to earn both sides a point.
