John’s role includes raising the profile of the club in the community, improving our communication with fans and wider stakeholders and leading on the communications surrounding our wider plans to develop the site.

John is a familiar face at The Citadel as he attends every home and away game with his son, Stephen. Last year they clocked up over 4,000 miles travelling on the supporters’ club ‘fun bus’!

He’s also a respected journalist with almost 30 years’ experience and has worked in a  variety of senior roles for publications ranging from the Wakefield Express and Wharfedale Observer through to The Guardian and others. He set up his own community newspaper the West Leeds Dispatch just over eight years ago, which he still runs both online and in print.

John has also been marketing manager at Bramley Baths and brings with him huge experience in many areas. His knowledge and passion for the club will help us as we expand quite significantly in our size and operations, as well as site development.

John said: “This is a dream job for me and it’s a massive honour to be able to play a significant role in helping the club I love reach the ‘next level’ in its off-field operations. The club has some exciting plans and I’m already relishing the chance to get stuck in.”
