It’s been barely a month since striker Michael Coulson signed for Farsley Celtic after leaving Scarborough Athletic to continue his National League North journey.
And who can forget Coulo’s dramatic 96th-minute free kick on his home debut against Curzon Ashton to earn The Celts all three points?
With The Celts entertaining the Seadogs on Saturday, we caught up with our new signing about his new life at The Citadel – and playing against the club he used to captain.
How well do you feel you’ve settled into the club?
“I feel I’ve settled in well and I’m enjoying it. I was made to feel really welcome from the start, which always helps, and on the pitch things have gone OK.
“As a team we’re going out there and proving a lot of people wrong. Even when we haven’t won, like against Scunthorpe, we’ve managed to stay in the game and shown we are a good team with good players.”
What have you enjoyed most about the club since your arrival?
“The spirit. There’s a real togetherness amongst the lads and it’s a proper family club – I’m enjoying my time here.
“Results have been going well, I thought we were unlucky not to get something out of the home game against Scunthorpe and I felt we should have come away with three points at Curzon on Saturday. They are a top six team and we should have beaten them, so we are playing well.
“And like I said, we have a good group of lads here who have made me very welcome.”
What kind of game are you expecting on Saturday against Scarborough?
“It’ll be a tough one as they’re on a great run at the moment, they are keeping clean sheets and have some very good players.
“Obviously I know how they play, it’s similar to Farsley in a way. They work really hard and have quality players in form who can score goals for them.
“But we have good players too and hopefully we can use the pitch to our advantage and get three points from the game.”
What will it be like playing against your former club?
“I’ve been thinking about this for a few days! It’s going to be a strange feeling.
“Obviously I had played with some of the Scarborough lads for four or five years, but at the end of the day I’m focused on getting a positive result for Farsley Celtic on Saturday and hopefully I can help make that happen. That’s the only thing I’m focussed on.
“I am excited about it!”
What are your aims for the rest of the season?
“From a club point of view our aim is to continue to go under the radar, and to go on a run again. In the past teams have come from nowhere and if we can put in a good run and be in the mix around March/April who knows where we can get to. We just need to go about our business.
“From a personal point of view I just want to play as many games as possible and play with a smile on my face. So far that’s happened and I just want it to continue!”
