All four of The Celts’ wins this season have been on the road – and Clayton is keen to get a reaction from his players after the disappointing 4-1 home defeat to Brackley Town.

Speaking immediately after Saturday’s game, Clayton said: “I can’t wait. It’s a good time to put things right. After you’ve suffered a heavy defeat you want the next game to come quickly.

“We had a word with all the players after the game and make no mistakes they all know how I feel about it and I want to see a reaction on Tuesday.”

On his ambitions for the rest of the season, Clayton said: “We want to try and progress from previous seasons. We want to progress and move further up. You want to get towards the end of the season and say ‘we’re fine now, we’re safe’ and we’ve done better than what we did in previous seasons.

“It’s all about progression. My ambition and aim for this team is to push on and rather than looking down, to be looking up.”

Darren Stevenson sits out the match for the last of his three-match suspension. The Celts’ squad was bolstered last Friday by three new loan signings in Michael Acquah, Theo Chapman and Connor O’Brien, who all played on Saturday.

The opposition

National League North new boys Warrington Town sit just one point above The Celts in the table. The league is currently very tight – Farsley are just three points away from the final playoff spot, and five above Gloucester City, who are fourth from bottom and the final relegation place.

Warrington will provide tough opposition for The Celts. They’re undefeated in their last four matches, with The Yellows chiming back from 2-0 down to earn a point at home against South Shields two weeks ago after spending 90 minutes with just 10 men following Andy White’s early dismissal. And on Saturday they won 4-1 at Bishops Stortford.
