Farsley Celtic will be looking to return to winning ways on Saturday when the Celts face a trip to Scarborough Athletic following a two week break.

The Celts were handed a weekend’s rest last week after losing out to tomorrow’s opponents 3-0 in the second round qualfying stage of the FA Cup, which meant Farsley were without an opponent for last weekend.

Most recently, Clayton Donaldson’s side suffered their first home defeat of the season when Farsley succumbed to a 1-0 loss to Banbury United at The Citadel, after an early Adi Yussuf goal sealed all three points for the Oxfordshire outfit.

That result sets up tomorrow’s fixture against Scarborough Athletic, who Farsley already know plenty about after facing the Seadogs twice this season already in the FA Cup.

The Celts will have seen it as a missed opportunity to not have taken the win in the first clash after missing plenty of chances in the first half, which led to the sides playing out a 1-1 draw at The Citadel, before Scarborough progressed to the next round after coming out 3-0 winners in the replay at the Flamingo Land Stadium, the venue for tomorrow’s match.

In the National League North, both sides have enjoyed similar starts to the season, with Scarborough and Farsley sat 13th and 14th in the table respectively, both on 13 points with a goal difference of -3. Both teams will be hoping to put some distance between themselves and the opponents tomorrow.

Farsley will have to contend with plenty of threats from the North Yorkshire side, such as Lewis Maloney who hit a brace in the replay leg, which included a stunning free-kick from 25-yards-out which gave Jonathan Greening’s side the lead in the fixture.

The Celts pose a lot of threat to Scarborough too however, with the likes of Clayton Donaldson and Ben Atkinson in the attack, however they will be without Darren Stephenson for the fixture as he serves a suspension.
