Former Farsley midfielder Adam Barton had given the Tamside outfit a 2-0 advantage by the break after his first half brace.

Alex Curran added a third shortly after the interval to complete the win, a result which guarantees The Celts will finish at the bottom of the Vanarama National League table.

It only took Craig Mahon’s side nine minutes to take the lead as the ball was squared in from the right and Barton finished for his first into the bottom corner.

Farsley’s brightest chance of the first half came 15 minutes in as the ball fell to Justin Iwobi after Joao Silva’s initial shot had been blocked, but the imposing forward fired a powerful strike just over the bar.

Barton should have added his second on 22 minutes as the ball fell nicely to him on the penalty shot but he scuffed his effort wide.

Barton was denied 11 minutes later by an excellent Will Brook save as the Farsley shot-stopper showed great reactions to keep out the shot at close range.

However Curzon bagged their second five minutes before the break as Barton got on the end of Isaac Buckley-Ricketts’ cross to send a bullet header past Brook.

Manny Mampala came close to reducing the deficit in first half stoppage time but his shot from the edge of the box was just the wrong side of the upright.

The contest was essentially killed on the 48th minute though as the visitors grabbed their third when the influential Barton squared the ball to Curran who fired home.

Curran could have added a fourth on 74 minutes but he shot into the side netting.

David Stockdale’s young Farsley side prepare for one final game of the 2024/25 campaign when they travel to title contenders Brackley Town on Saturday.
