A late goal from Harry Green saw Farsley Celtic narrowly lose out as Scarborough Athletic took the 2-1 win in Saturday’s Yorkshire Derby.

Alex Brown gave The Seadogs an 11th minute after early pressure from the hosts, though Ben Atkinson’s penalty on the hour put Farsley right back in the contest.

However Green’s spectacular strike on 83 minutes saw Scarborough secure their third win of the season.

Boro hit an early warning sign through Green’s excellent low shot bringing an excellent low save from Farsley’s debutant goalkeeper Dylan Ombang after seven minutes.

Though it only took another four minutes for the opening goal of the contest, Brown firing low past Ombang for an early lead.

The lead was almost doubled on 32 minutes but Ombang, on loan from Leeds United after an injury to Tom Wooster in Tuesday night win over Marine, saved from Lewis Maloney this time.

Farsley were thrown a lifeline on 60 minutes, as the referee pointed to the penalty spot following a handball. Clinical Atkinson had no issues from the spot, coolly slotting past Ryan Whitley for his third goal of the season.

Despite the set-back, Scarborough generally controlled the final stages of the game and were rewarded with an impressive winning goal inside the last seven minutes of the clash. Green let fire from the edge of the box, impressively firing into the top corner to secure the win for the Seadogs.
