Farsley Celtic suffered a fourth successive defeat today at Edgar Street as the Celts were comfortably beaten 4-1 by Hereford FC.

A 9th minute penalty from Tope Abedayi as well as first half goals from Alex Babos, Kieran Phillips and Jid Okeke sealed a heavy win for the Bulls despite a stoppage time consolation from Ryan Watson.

Farsley started the match in solid fashion, creating an early half chance through a Chris Atkinson header, however any chance of the Celts taking the lead was dealt a heavy blow in the tenth minute when Dom McHale was bundled over by Jack Evans in the penalty area. Up stepped Abedayi who fired into the right side of the net to put Hereford one up.

The lead was doubled ten minutes later Alex Babos bundled in from close range to make Farsley’s task even more difficult.

A third followed within the next five minutes, this time in the form of Kieran Phillips who finished well from a low, hard cross sent in by Abedayi, and a fourth was secured on the stroke of half time when Jid Okeke found the bottom right corner from inside the penalty area, putting the result all beyond doubt.

The Celts improved in the second half after being boosted by the introductions of Ryan Watson and Lewis Turner, however they still struggled to create any clear cut chances for the majority of the second half with Chris Atkinson’s effort from the edge of the box being the only one to test Curtis Pond.

Farsley did manage to pull one back in the end through substitute Watson, after the midfielder’s strike from the edge of the box was deflected, wrong-footing Pond to claw back some pride for the Celts.

Clayton Donaldson’s men will be glad to see the back of the long distance fixtures after two consecutive weekends on the road, as Farsley host Southport at The Citadel on Good Friday with a kick-off time of 3pm.
