Bottom club Bishop’s Stortford travel to The Citadel on Saturday looking to secure points to pull them away from the dreaded drop zone.

The Celts come into the game in good heart. Their last home game saw them beat Scarborough 2-0 in a feisty encounter, and they were unlucky to only come away from tough away fixtures at South Shields and Chorley with only a point to their game.

A first half goal from Darren Stevenson gave the Celts a 1-0 victory in Hertfordshire back in August, with the Celts surviving a second-half aerial bombardment from the new boys to grab an important win.

And skipper Chris Atkinson knows The Celts will have to be at their best on Saturday in the return fixture.

“Even though Bishop’s Stortford are bottom of the league, we can’t take them lightly,” he said. “There is no easy game in this league.

“We need to pick up where we left off against Scarborough in our last home game and if we perform like we did that day I am sure we will come away with a positive result.”

Chris also paid tribute to the travelling Celt Army who got behind the lads at South Shields and Chorley. “The boys appreciate your support,” he added. “Thank you to everyone who travelled.”

Saturday’s match at the Citadel kicks off at 3pm.
