Farsley Celtic head back on the road this weekend, making the relatively short trip to Derbyshire to take on Alfreton Town.

Those in attendance will certainly be hoping this contest bucks the trend of the recent meetings between the two sides, with their last two match-ups ending 0-0.

The Celts enter this game on a season-best run of four games without a loss, having not tasted defeat in over a month.

However, Russ Wilcox’s side remains in the relegation zone, although they now sit just three points from safety, and five of Farsley’s next six matches are against sides in the bottom half.

Looking ahead to a busy month, Wilcox said: “The squad at the moment is looking quite strong, you’ve got players like Adam Clayton and Dave Syers back involved which is great, and we’ve got competition for places.

“We’ve got a few long journeys, certainly the Hereford one, and two away games coming up, Alfreton and Hereford, but we just stick together, there are still 24 games to go yet, we’re not in a place we want to be.”

Alfreton also find themselves in a decent spell of form having strung together a three-game unbeaten run over the festive period, whilst they are also undefeated in their last four games at the Impact Arena.

January is also an important month for the Reds whose season could still go either way, with Billy Heath’s men sitting six points from the play-off positions, and six points clear of the relegation zone.

TEAM NEWS

Lewis Turner returned to the matchday squad on New Year’s Day after recovering from illness.

Farsley will be hoping that Chris Atkinson has also recovered from an illness that saw him miss both festive clashes with Bradford (Park Avenue).
