Farsley Celtic face Albion Sports in the West Riding County Cup quarter-finals at the Citadel this evening, looking to reach the semi-final stage for the second year in a row.

It will be a strange evening for the Celts, facing their tenants Albion Sports as the ‘away’ side, despite the game being played at the Citadel.

This is also set to be Russ Wilcox’s first outing in the competition this season, receiving a bye in the first round before Glasshoughton Welfare withdrew from the competition ahead of our second round meeting.

Step five outfit Albion Sports have been the West Riding County Cup’s penalty specialists this year, defeating Garforth Town via spot-kicks in the first round, before doing the same to FC Halifax Town.

They currently sit 17th in the NCEL Premier Division, seven points clear of the relegation zone, and have won just one of their last eight in all competitions, a 2-0 victory over Shirebrook Town in their League Cup last week.

And whilst this may be an away tie, there should be no road concerns for Farsley, who enter this game knowing that they haven’t lost at the Citadel since November 22, a run of five games.

TEAM NEWS

Russ Wilcox has no injury concerns to deal with ahead of tonight’s fixture.
