Farsley Celtic welcome Boston United to the Citadel this evening, to cap a run of three-straight home games.

The Celts were just minutes away from securing a first home win of the season on Saturday, only for Spennymoor Town to strike twice at the death to leave Farsley disappointed with a 2-2 draw.

Hosting Boston United will bring happy memories for Farsley fans, with the last meeting coming on the final day of the 2021/22 season, with survival secured in memorable fashion despite defeat to the Pilgrims.

Reflecting on last time out, Russ Wilcox said: “We should have put the game to bed [on Saturday], at 2-0 we’ve had three, four, five opportunities to get that third goal, and I think at 2-0 everyone knows it’s one of those strange score lines where the next goal is massive.

“The pleasing thing in the last few games is we’ve been creating a lot of chances.

“We’ve just got to keep the back door shut better, as a group.”

Farsley were also boosted on Saturday by the return of Kian Scales, as Wilcox continued: “He’s slotted in there and looked like he’s played there all his career, he’s played there only in practice matches against the first team, but you’re just making one change then.

“He could make a good right back, he’s got all the attributes to be a right back, he tackles well, he covers well, he’s got good pace, terrific energy.”
