The start of the 2024/25 season for the women has left us with an enormous sense of pride in our team. Performances are strong and the team spirit consistently evident as we work hard to achieve great things in our togetherness.
We are looking forward to our next league match at Sherburn White Rose today, manager Izzy Roads has selected a great team for todays outing. With such a strong squad this season, the job of making a selection of 16 is a tough one! The squad is full of strength and will see us remain strong competitors for the long season ahead!
Whilst we exited the FA Cup last weekend, after a very close and hard-fought match against Bradford City, the team still feel like winners, they have been full of excitement and hope for the future after the crowd of travelling Farsley Celtic fans showed their ferocious support in very wet conditions on Sunday!
On behalf of the players and support staff, I am privileged to be writing this piece to thank all that are supporting our growth. We have a passionate, increasing fan base, who raised the proverbial roof with rapturous, joyous applause and cheers at the Bradford match, particularly in response to the two epic goals from Lauren Rigby and the perfectly executed shot from Millie Washington. Rigby’s free kick video has been watched a massive 4000 times across our media platforms! Support for the team was appreciated by all and we were all sharing messages of pride after the match on how great it was to see so many people attending. It really means a lot to us to see our following ballooning at such a rate and we can’t wait to see more of you in the future!
In a change to our support team this season, we have appointed Kirsty Dwyer-Moran, our Player Advocate, who has already made a significant impact to the squad. We created this role as we have a commitment to our players for them to feel listened to, supported and represented. Kirsty works closely with our Captain, Lauren Rigby who is also a trained mental health first aider, and the wider support team to ensure the wellbeing of the players is placed above all else. We firmly believe that comfortable and confident players will reach their full potential both on and off the pitch when we have a support team who wholly reflect the club values. With Izzy Roads as manager, Connor Cowan in a coaching role and Steve O’Brian supporting fitness and conditioning, Kirsty in place as our player advocate, we feel that the players we have signed this season have a great opportunity to develop and improve consistently as we progress through the season in the Premier League.
Each season we achieve great things with our sponsorship and fund raising, this season is no exception! The team and I would like to share our appreciation to our sponsors, without whom it would not be possible to deliver what we do! Welcome to our 2024/25 supporters! More will be announced in the coming weeks as we continue to work with supportive partners!
