Farsley Celtic played out a 1-1 draw with North Ferriby in pre-season after a DJ Campton-Sturridge cracker

The hosts took the lead on the stroke of half-time when Mason Johnson headed in after being on the end of a set piece, before Campton-Sturridge’s effort from outside the box levelled the score.

Farsley started off in their blue away strip, and had the best of early proceedings as the new look squad continues to gel together.

Dylan Youmbi had the first real opportunity to get on the scoresheet, when he drifted inside from the right with some delightful footwork, before firing an effort over the bar.

Ryan Watson has enjoyed a strong pre-season, and came close to adding to his tally of 2 goals 15 minutes in when his low strike from the edge of the area forced a save from the goalkeeper down to his left.

Youmbi came close again as well as Alex Kiwomya, before Johnson’s goal just minutes before the half-time whistle when a free-kick delivery found the forward at the back post who headed up into the goal.

The Celts again took control in the second half and found their equaliser with 20 minutes remaining when substitute DJ Campton-Sturridge received the ball from range before turning and smashing the ball into the top left corner to draw Clayton Donaldson’s side level.

Chances were then far and few between for both sides, but Robbie Fox almost found a winner with five minutes left when his header from only several yards out was blocked by the North Ferriby stopper.

The game then ended level at the Dransfield Stadium, and the Celts are back in action on Tuesday when they travel to FC United of Manchester.
