Farsley Celtic will be looking for a return to winning ways this evening when the Celts host Warrington Town at The Citadel.

For the second successive match, Farsley entertain a play-off chaser after a narrow defeat to Alfreton Town on Saturday which saw plenty of goals as the visitors came out 3-2 winners in an entertaining affair. Clayton Donaldson and his men will be looking for an instant response with the Celts now winless in their last four matches; the last victory coming against Blyth Spartans.

Farsley’s opponents, Warrington Town, have enjoyed a solid first season in the National League North, with the Yellows sat in tenth position just four points away from seventh placed Boston United, who Donaldson’s side will face away on Saturday. Warrington have enjoyed mixed form recently with two wins in their last five matches coming against bottom side Bishop’s Stortford and Curzon Ashton, a 2-2 draw against Brackley Town coupled with losses to Spennymoor Town and most recently Southport.

Farsley have one victory over the Cheshire outfit with the two sides meeting five times previously, four of those matches coming in the Northern Premier League where the Celts ran out 2-0 winners in 2018, whereas Warrington have been successful in the fixture on two occasions.

The two sides most recently met at Cantilever Park back in October where a last minute equaliser from goalkeeper Daniel Atherton cancelled out player/manager Clayton Donaldson’s first goal for Farsley to deny the Celts all three points away from home.

TEAM NEWS

Darren Stephenson made a welcome return to the squad on Saturday when the forward made his first appearance since Southport away back in November after replacing Ben Atkinson just after the hour mark.

The Celts will also look to have Harry Sheridan back in the squad after a successful one-month loan spell at Liversedge. Isaac Assenso will also be looking to return to the squad, after the defender picked up a hamstring injury.
