“We need to concentrate on ourselves” – that’s the message from skipper Chris Atkinson as Farsley Celtic prepare for the visit of in-firm Chester FC on Saturday.
The visitors sit third in the league and are enjoying a six-match unbeaten run.
But the skipper feels The Celts are in good form, with back to back home wins against Scarborough and Bishop’s Stortford under our belt. The Celts lost 1-0 at leaders Tamworth and were disappointed not to get something out of the game.
“The Tamworth game was always going to be tough,” said Chris. “Obviously they are top of the league and hadn’t conceded a goal in the past seven games, which is some record at any level.
“We were obviously disappointed after the game not to get anything out of it. I think it just shows how far we have come this season to be going away from home to the top of the league and being disappointed not to get anything. It just shows the mentality within the group.”
Chris is expecting a tough game on Saturday, but is going into it with confidence.
“Chester are obviously a good side full time team with a lot of good players. They’re coming off the back of a good result last weekend against Scarborough.
“We just need to concentrate on ourselves, play our own game make it difficult for Chester and put our stamp on the game early. Our home form has been excellent of late. Hopefully we can carry that on against Chester!”
