Farsley Celtic Women headed back out on the road this weekend to visit a Golcar United side who were just one place behind us at the start of the day.
A strong travelling party from Farsley we’re switched on from arrival with a clear aim for the day – no less than a win would do.
Debuting our new 2024 away kit, it was a close first half as we settled into the game and worked our way through a strong Golcar defence to take the lead through Shirley Murphy after Lauren Rigby’s weighted through ball.
1-0 at half time and with some choice words from the coaches in their ears, the second half was a completely different story to the balanced first.
It took just two minutes to extend our lead as Shirley Murphy scored her second after great work from Georgia Bull up front and a 30-yard free kick from Rigby made it 3 soon after.
Imogen Nichols tapped home a rebound for our fourth and a few minutes later smashed home her second from distance to make it 5-0.
With ten minutes to play Georgia Bull got her well earned goal before a quick fire double from Shirley Murphy and Evie Smith wrapped things up as we finished 8-0 on the road.
This weekend it is back to home comforts as we host runaway league leaders Ilkley Town in a must win game at The Citadel, we’d love to see as many of you as possible filling the stands to cheer on the team!
