Farsley Celtic welcome National League opposition to The Citadel on Saturday in Halifax Town for the first of three bumper pre-season matches in a row.
After playing the first two matches of pre-season away, the Celts return to The Citadel on Saturday to welcome National League side, and Isuzu FA Trophy winners, FC Halifax Town.
It’s been a steady start to pre-season for Clayton Donaldson’s new-look Farsley team with draws away at Brighouse Town and most recently Silsden AFC. The new signings have begun to gel together with Farsley controlling possession well with neat passing and movement in their most recent encounter, and Donaldson along with his coaching team will be looking for more of the same on Saturday.
Our visitors, Halifax, played their first friendly on Tuesday when they drew 0-0 with Glossop North End. The Shaymen enjoyed a successful 2023/24 campaign as they finished in 11th place in the National League, as well as major success in the Isuzu FA Trophy where they would go onto lift the trophy at Wembley Stadium.
The two sides last met in the previous pre-season campaign where Farsley were 2-1 victors at The Citadel thanks to goals from Frank Mulhern and Mwiya Malumo.
The Celts will be looking to replicate the result of that match, whilst continuing to prepare for the National League North season, which kicks off on Saturday 5 August away at Rushall Olympic.
TEAM NEWS
Darren Stephenson could return to the squad after missing the match away at Silsden due to a knock.
