After being announced as Farsley Celtic’s new manager on Wednesday, David Stockdale summarises his first few days at the club, including Thursday night’s meeting with the Supporters’ Club at Throstle Nest.
David said: “One of the highlights of my short time at the club so far was meeting the Supporters’ Club last night. Being involved in the whole meeting and being able to listen to everything that’s gone on in the past week and hearing the fans’ reaction and their individual passion and dedication to the club.
“It was great to see everyone smiling and coming out of the meeting positively, especially what’s been surrounding the club in recent times.
“The fact that it feels like we now have full transparency around the club is brilliant and I’m excited for the club but we’re under no illusions, as we know it’s still going to be an uphill battle for the club on and off the pitch, but it’s one that a lot of people are looking forward to.”
Having previously managed Blyth Spartans earlier this season, tomorrow’s Vanarama National League North game will be a step up for ‘Stocky’, but he’s relishing the opportunity to get started as Farsley’s boss when they travel to 15th place Leamington FC.
“Looking ahead to tomorrow’s game against Leamington, it will be a special day because Farsley are probably my most local club, and it’s the highest level I’ll have managed at but given the larger circumstances surrounding the club, it’s much bigger than a personal milestone, most importantly it’s about trying to get some points on the board for the club and about making something on the field a little bit better than in recent times.
“The more and more I get the chance to be working together with the players and the more they understand me, hopefully we can move forward and we have got a little bit of time to do that.
“We haven’t had the chance to train as a squad this week with the various things that have happened this week but I’ve sent some analysis information to the lads in the squad for tomorrow.
“I’ve spoken to Luke Dean, the academy manager, and we’re going to have a couple of lads step up from their team and get them involved because at the end of the day they are part of this club and if I can move them up into step two football, then it’s only a positive for the club.”
