Farsley Celtic suffered a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Rushall Olympic after two second half goals secured all three points
The Celts started the better team and were nearly ahead after the first minute as the ball broke for Robbie Fox on the left; however he could only slice his effort wide.
Both teams struggled to keep hold of possession in a frantic opening to the match which saw a lack of clear-cut chances despite both teams playing high tempo football.
The first goal of the game came for the visitors as the ball was swung in at a corner from the left which found the head of defender Joseph Hull who guided the ball home to put Rushall in front.
But just six minutes later the Celts had their equaliser. Fox taking down a high ball before finding Dylan Youmbi on the right side of the box who fired a right footed effort past the keeper at his near post to level up.
Farsley then nearly took the lead before the break as Fox broke, forcing White in goal to come out of his box to challenge before the ball broke to Finn O’Boyle who couldn’t get a shot away due to some good cover defending.
The second half also started well for Pav Singh’s side as Youmbi beat his man down the right wing before finding O’Boyle in the box but a number of Rushall bodies were in the way to stop his shot.
Ten minutes into the second half Rushall had their lead back as Kian Ryley found space in the box and gave the visitors the lead for the second time with a cool finish into the bottom corner.
The Celts nearly had an equaliser as Flavell claimed a corner and immediately sent it long for Silva who after coming on in the 53rd minute after Youmbi limped off, beat one defender but couldn’t shake off the second who prevented him from getting a shot away.
Rushall had their third shortly after as a long ball was taken down brilliantly by Lalkovic who found Ryley who finished well to secure his brace.
Fox continued to push for Farsley as he was moved out wide and in the 85th minute, he beat his man down the line and fired a shot in at the near post which was well saved.
A minute later Iwobi, who was subbed on in the 68th minute for Hyde, played a brilliant flick on for Fox but after finding space for a shot, it was straight at the keeper which would prove to be Farsley’s last chance of the game.
