Post-Match Review vs. Darlington
First off, a big thank you to Buxton for hosting us. The setup here is outstanding, providing a truly professional environment that makes a difference for our squad.
Today, with players missing and a limited bench, we weren’t in an ideal position, but the lads truly rolled up their sleeves and gave everything. Credit to Darren Stephenson playing out of position taking one for the team , a true team player helping push the players through the full 90 minutes. Despite the setbacks, the determination and work ethic on the pitch were undeniable.
Our structure was solid and the back three of Sam Fielding , Rudy Misambo and Bailey Sloane first start as a LCB denied and delayed the pace and strength of Darlingtons forward players and we effectively disrupted Darlington’s style, showing intent and sticking to our principles. Unfortunately, two moments of hesitation allowed them to capitalize, but overall, we stayed in the game and kept competing. We were so unlucky with some of our chances; opportunities fell to Greenfield and Sturridge, and we even hit the post through Sloane header so unlucky. On a good day, those go in, and we stop conceding the goals that hurt us.
I’d also like to highlight Lewis Turner, who returned after two months and was outstanding in midfield. His grit and ability to disrupt Darlington’s play were crucial. Tom Wooster, who’s been through a tough period, showed immense courage with several fantastic saves, and it was great to see his confidence growing.
The lads are beginning to find connection and composure, playing bravely together. While we know results matter, we’re confident that when the embargo is lifted players returning from injury , new additions to the squad , and everyone getting back we’ll turn things around soon.
A huge thank you to the fans who joined us on the coach and made the effort to come out today. Your support makes all the difference.
