Farsley Celtic return to National League North action this weekend, as the Celts make the trip to face high-flying Chester at the Deva Stadium
The Celts most recently featured in the FA Cup and made history, when Pav Singh’s side defeated Wythenshawe Town 1-0 in front of the BBC cameras to reach the fourth qualifying round for the first time since 2007.
Darren Stephenson’s 5th goal of the season in all competitions was enough to secure a huge victory for the Celts, and the forward will be looking to contribute towards another significant result today when he comes up against his former club.
Today’s fixture sees Farsley come up against a strong Chester side managed by Calum Mclyntyre who has the Seals sitting in second place, three points behind table toppers Scunthorpe United, managed by former Celt Andy Butler.
Pav Singh has highlighted the scale of the task for his side today, saying:” Today we face a tough challenge in the form of a very strong Chester side.
“Calum has done a fantastic job with them, building a team that controls the game and plays with a style that many envy, and we know the quality that they bring to the table.”
Speaking on his own team, Singh commented: “This is now our 21st consecutive away fixture.
“I can’t fault the lads for their attitude, application and togetherness that they as well as the management team have shown. They’ve been flawless.
“Going through adversity has made us stronger as a unit and hopefully today we can try and be the best versions of ourselves despite all of the challenges we currently face.”
TEAM NEWS
The Celts welcomed back Rudy Misambo to the squad last weekend, and Singh will be hoping to have him available again today. Farsley have no fresh injury concerns from the win at Wythenshawe.
CHESTER
As mentioned, the Seals have started the season well and currently occupy second place. Chester haven’t lost a match since their opening two defeats to Spennymoor Town and Brackley Town, going on an impressive ten-match unbeaten streak in all competitions since.
LAST TIME OUT
Chester had the better of the fixture last season at both venues, with a 2-0 win at the Deva Stadium ending Farsley’s eight game unbeaten start to the 2023/24 season, followed by a 2-1 victory at The Citadel.
