Farsley Celtic recorded a comfortable 3-0 victory, as their pre-season preparations continued on the road at Silsden AFC on Tuesday evening.
An impressive first half strike from Ryan Watson put the Celt Army ahead at the break, with a brace of second half goals from a Trialist ensuring a straight-forward win for Clayton Donaldson’s side.
It only took 14 minutes for Farsley to take the lead, Watson finding the goal with a trademark long-range strike from outside the Silsden box.
The Celt Army came very close to doubling their lead a few minutes after the break when former Carlisle United forward Manny Mampala saw his curling shot strike the crossbar.
Farsley manager Donaldson shuffled the deck on the hour-mark, changing all ten of his outfield selection to ensure his full squad would get minutes in the tank, with the new season now less than four weeks away.
On 66 minutes one of the three Trialists on show found the goal from a narrow angle as he beat the hosts’ goalkeeper at his near post to give Farsley a 2-0 advantage.
And he struck again, just four minutes later as a goalmouth scramble saw the ball drop to his feet within the six-yard box, giving him the opportunity to smash home a second goal of the evening.
The Celt Army are back in action in just three days’ time when they face their fifth of nine pre-season tests, with an away trip to Stocksbridge Park Steels on Friday evening. Kick-off at the Bracken Moor Stadium is at 7:45pm.
