Farsley Celtic face a monumental clash in the fight for survival on Tuesday evening when the Celts make the trip to Peterborough Sports

It’s the second leg of a double header against the Cambridgeshire side after Farsley secured a crucial three points at The Citadel on Saturday with a Michael Coulson header being the difference between the two sides.

The Celts go into the midweek fixture knowing that a victory could take them as high as 15th in the National League North with just two matches left to play against Darlington and Buxton.

For the management and players it will be a case of hoping for the same again after a strong second half performance on Saturday helped Farsley grind out a 1-0 victory, but it will be a tough challenge for Clayton Donaldson’s side, with the weekend’s result placing strain on Tuesday’s hosts as they look to avoid the drop themselves.

TEAM NEWS

George Smith remains out injured, whilst Tom Allan continues to serve his suspension that was given after his second yellow card against Southport on Good Friday. Tuesday could see the return of defender Isaac Assenso after a long spell out with an injury.

PETERBOROUGH SPORTS

Our hosts on Tuesday would have been hoping a positive result at The Citadel would be enough to keep them clear of the National League North dropzone, however the Turbines now find themselves in 17th place, two points above Farsley in 21st. Like Farsley, Sports have just the one win in ten matches which came in their most recent home match against already relegated Gloucester City.

LAST TIME OUT

As mentioned, the two sides most recently met just days ago when Farsley claimed all three points. The last encounter at Lincoln Road however was a more joyful day for the Turbines when a second half goal from Richard Jones secured a 1-0 win against the Celts back in December 2022.
