Farsley Celtic continued their fine away form with an impressive 2-1 away win at Scarborough Athletic.
Second half goals from Isaac Robinson and Joao Silva gave the visitors – who had only scored twice in their previous seven league and cup matches – a fully deserved win at a windswept Flamingo Land Stadium.
Farsley’s Slovenian stopper Zan Luk Leban didn’t have a difficult save to make all game as the much-improved Celts ended Scarborough’s unbeaten home record this season.
A wind-swept first half ended up goal-less and there was very little to choose between the teams.
Farsley thought they’d taken the lead after just seven minutes when Connor Branson, playing in a more advanced position, tapped home only for the linesman’s flag to cut short the celebrations.
The game was then delayed for ten minutes due to a medical emergency in the crowd, with physios for both sides and first aid responders called over.
The rest of the half remained tight, with The Celts looking comfortable. Player coach Clayton Donaldson – who later limped off with what looked like a bad injury – fired just wide. The Sea Dogs’ Curtis Durose then shot over just before the break.
The second half saw the Celts start brightly, and it was no surprise when Bradford loanee Isaac Robinson finished a dangerous Silva cross from the left to put the visitors in front.
The strike sparked the home side into life and Dom Tear slotted home on 68 minutes with what was Scarborough’s first real opportunity.
But Farsley continued to create chances, the lively Silva racing clean through, only for Scarborough keeper Cracknall to make himself big and deny him.
And 13 minutes’ from time Silva got his reward, his clever lob beating Cracknall, much to the delight of the travelling Celt Army behind the goal.
Scarborough pushed forward in search of a late equaliser, but The Celts held firm for an important win which sees them move up to 12th in the table, just two points behind the play-off places
All four of Farsley’s wins this season have come away from home.
The Celts aren’t back in action again until they entertain Brackley on Saturday, 21 October as next Saturday’s opponents Curzon Ashton are involved in the FA Cup.
