Farsley Celtic face a trip to the Deva Stadium on Bank Holiday Monday where they face Chester FC with the Celts still unbeaten after five matches

The Celts face arguably their toughest test of the season yet on Monday when they travel to Chester. The Seadogs have started the new season in poorer form than expected, however they are always tough opposition especially when playing at the Deva Stadium so Clayton Donaldson’s side will have to be at the top of their game once again.

It’s a rapid turnaround for all sides in the division with all sides in action this Monday despite last playing two days before on Saturday where Farsley came agonisingly close to claiming their first home win of the season against Tamworth.

Farsley had come from behind to go two-one up after conceding early in the first half thanks to second half goals from Darren Stephenson (who faces his former side today) and Jordan Carroll, before a controversial penalty was awarded to the away side for an adjudged handball against Celts midfielder Conor Branson.

The penalty was converted, denying Farsley the chance to go second in the table, highlighting the fantastic start to the season made by Donaldson and his side.

It’s been the opposite story for Chester so far, with the Cheshire side sat 19th in the table, with just one win coming so far against King’s Lynn Town in the second game of the season.

Since that result, Chester have managed a 0-0 draw against Chorley, before succumbing to two 1-0 defeats at the hands of Banbury United and Scarborough Athletic, with the latter result coming after an injury time free-kick.

However, despite their early struggles, Chester are always there or thereabouts by the end of the season and Farsley will be sure to not underestimate their Bank Holiday Monday opponents.

TEAM NEWS

Farsley will be hoping that George Smith will be available for today’s match after the full-back missed the draw with Tamworth through injury.

Tom Allan will also serve the final match of his three-game suspension.
