Leeds born midfielder Syers, started his career at Ossett Albion playing for a number of teams in West Yorkshire including Harrogate Town, Farsley and Guiseley AFC. He then turned professional playing at Bradford City, Doncaster Rovers, Scunthorpe United and Rochdale.
