Farsley Celtic 2-1 Radcliffe Borough - Report
Farsley Celtic put in a fine performance to defeat Radcliffe Borough 2-1.
Report by Thomas Ritchie.
Farsley Celtic captain Robbie O'Brien stepped away from the semi-professional game in fantastic fashion, scoring the opening goal in a 2-1 victory.
His goal came early on as the skipper latched onto Lewis Nightingale's pass before slotting home. Radcliffe Borough were then reduced to ten men as Nathan Valentine handled
Adam Clayton's header on the line. From the resulting penalty Chris Cheetham made a fantastic save to deny
Aiden Savory. Just moments later Cheetham made another fine save low down to deny
Paul Walker, before
Adam Clayton's header struck the bar.
Shortly after halftime The Celts doubled their lead as
Paul Walker curled the ball into the top corner. Farsley then thought they had extended their lead as Savory latched onto the rebound from Nightingale's free kick, only to be adjudged offside. Midway through the half Walker played a delicious through ball to Danny Bunch who saw his effort thwarted by Cheetham. With time running out Radcliffe pulled one back through Elliott Rokka who tucked the ball away past Jake Lofthouse. However, this wasn't enough to spark a comeback as Farsley ended the season on a high with three points.
MOTM:
Paul Walker - At the centre of all Farsley's positive football today, he worked tirelessly all game and got a deserved goal to assist his side's victory.
