The Derbyshire side’s calamitous season has been well-documented, having picked up just a single point during the campaign, they didn’t cause the Celts too much trouble over the 90 minutes.
A Lewis Nightingale brace, an Aaron Hardy penalty and an Adam Clayton effort keeps the Villagers within two points of the top five.
It didn’t take the visitors too long to open the scoring as Nightingale broke the deadlock after just 12 minutes when he curled in a delightful free-kick from the edge of the box.
The Celts grabbed a second on the 23 minute mark from the penalty spot after Paul Walker had the nous to flick the ball around Millers ‘keeper Oliver Martin, inviting a foul from the number one. Hardy confidently struck the kick down the right to double Farsley’s lead.
Martin brilliantly redeemed himself on the half hour mark, when he reacted excellently to push Nightingale’s volley wide, after the winger had picked the ball up from Walker’s knock-down.
Then five minutes before the break, the Celts had strong shouts for a second penalty waved away by referee Duncan Carratt, after Aiden Savory appeared to be felled within the penalty area.
However Farsley did snatch a third on 51 minutes when Walker’s initial effort was blocked only for Clayton to finish, with the help of a deflection from Jonathon Rand.
On 65 minutes, Savory produced a brilliant first touch to bring the ball down before playing in substitute Leon Osborne, but his curling effort flew agonisingly wide of the upright.
The hosts began to create a few chances as the game clicked into the final quarter of an hour and an impressive save from Tom Taylor kept out Jake Williams’ effort on 75 minutes.
Then three minutes later, a pin-point long ball picked out the run of substitute Michael Boateng. He attempted to lob Taylor but instead shot right at the keeper.
But the Millers’ efforts paid off as they pulled a goal back on 83 minutes when Adam Blackburn latched onto a ball over the top before tucking into the bottom corner.
But Farsley had the last word as good work from Osborne out on the right allowed him to square into the centre where Nightingale was waiting to fire home his 18th goal of the campaign.
