Farsley went in to the away fixture with Spennymoor, looking for their seventh straight victory in all competitions, and put in a display that suggests their run could well keep going.
Celtic dominated the first half and were unlucky not to go in at the break at least a goal to the good. In the fifth minute, Chris Howarth made a run down the right hand side, before being felled by a defender. Unfortunately the free kick came to nothing, with a foul being given on the goalkeeper. Just minutes later Aiden Savory went close, having his shot well blocked.
With the game heading towards the half hour mark, Adam Clayton went close with a header from a well taken Lewis Nightingale corner, and Farsley were really showing their dominance. Farsley could still not find the breakthrough and the home side managed to get back into the game in the final ten minutes of the half when they went close with a free kick following a Howarth foul. However the game remained goalless at the break.
Celtic continued their dominance as the second half started. With the ball bouncing in the box, Lewis Nightingale was felled, and the referee pointed to the spot. Captain Aaron Hardy stepped up to hammer the ball into the bottom right corner and give the visitors a well-deserved lead.
It wasn’t long before Farsley added a second. Aiden Savory held the ball in the area and laid it off to Lewis Sugden, who fired in to the bottom left corner from the edge of the box. A minute later Lewis Nightingale made it three as he cut through the defence to slam home a great goal.
Farsley sealed the win when man of the match Walker gambled on a defensive mix up and rolled the ball in to an empty net to give the visiting Celts all three points.
