Farsley Celtic only had themselves to blame, as they came away with nothing from the match at Throstle Nest. League leaders Warrington made the Celts pay in the end when Ali Brown scored the winner on 70 minutes.
Apart from an early Steven Gillespie chance and the eventual winner, the game was all Farsley. Aiden Savory and Lewis Nightingale couldn't find the target with chances early in the game. Paul Walker then found the cross bar twice in quick succession, firstly from a rasping free kick on 23 minutes and then from a header six minutes later. New signings Chris Howarth and Adam Clayton then both came close as the first half drew to a close.
Farsley again came out looking bright as the second half kicked off, and continued to play some good football, and create yet more chances. On the hour mark Robbie O'Brien had perhaps the best chance of the match, but he could only find the keeper with his header from close range. Savory then went through one on one with the goalkeeper, but could only miss hit his shot wide.
O'Brien then found the post with an effort from just inside the box and then hit another great chance over the bar from a Paul Walker cross into the box. Warrington then made their way into the Farsley half for a rare attack. Former Farsley player Alex McQuade was involved down the left and the ball came into the box to find Ali Brown, who scored the winner for the perfect smash and grab victory.
