Another three points are in the bag for Town as they battled hard against a resurgent side showing several new faces including striker Paul Walker on loan from Bradford Park Avenue.
“It was an ugly win and we didn't play anywhere near but I said at half time we have to grind a win out and we kept going and got the three points,” said Town's manager Paul Quinn.
“They (Farsley) are a strong side and I thought they played well. We had opportunities to kill it but after the weekend we are pleased to have picked up four points. We were resilient and we held on.
"Once more I was pleased with the defence and the way they handled this new-look Farsley side with the likes of Adam Clayton, Paddy Miller, Lewis Nightingale and Walker in it who was the Fans Player of the Year at Park Avenue last term.
"Paul Hagreen had another sound game in goal although he will probably be annoyed with himself for his positioning for their goal. His one handed diving save from a Walker pile driver
in the second half was top drawer."
It was five minutes before Town made it into Farsley's half with Ryan Hall going one-on-one with former Town and FC Halifax Town keeper Tom Taylor. The Leeds side were certainly enjoying a lot of possession and time in Town's half and when Town did get the ball they were not finding their men.
Sixteen minutes in Adam Wilson collected in his own half and fed it through to Hall who went past his defender and beat an onrushing Taylor but his shot went agonisingly wide, but Leon Henry claimed the ball just before the dead ball line and Taylor had recovered to block his attempt.
At the other end Ross Daly, Walker and Aiden Savory were finding it hard to get any change out of a tight back four led by Wilson and backed up by Daniel Illingworth, Chris Fisher and Adam Field.
Town landed their first goal in the 33rd minute with a free kick some 3o yards out on the left hand touchline awarded after a heavy tackle on Henry by experienced Aaron Hardy, formerly of FC Halifax Town, Guiseley and Huddersfield Town . It was taken by teenage prospect James Pollard who bent it like Beckham and swung it into the goal with Taylor grasping fresh air after his defence had failed to clear.
Two minutes later and a quick-paced Hall ran the ball into the area, had to take it to his right but he beat Taylor on a narrow angle and fired it into the back of the net. Hardy tried to stop Hall's ferocious shot but landed in a heap at the back of the net.
In the 42nd minute things looked hairy as Farsley player Savory took the ball to the Town goal but keeper Hagreen saved the attempt followed by two more near misses as the Leeds side fought back
Only two minutes into the re start and Farsley keeper Taylor had to pull out all the stops as Ernest Boafo put in a trademark power ball. You could hear the power all round the ground as it hit the keeper's gloves as he dived to make the save.
Hagreen then made a great save as Walker tested the Town goal.
In the 55th minute Town brought on fresh legs with Pollard, looking to have a knee injury, and Facey being replaced by Sam Hewitt and Tom Haigh.
Four minutes later Fisher put in a super shot from 30 yards out on the left but it just cleared the crossbar with Taylor beaten.
In the 66th minute after some pressure on the Town goal a persistent Farsley brought the scores to 2-1 with Nightingale putting the cross in for Savory to head the ball in to an empty net. Two minutes later and Hall was booked for a foul tackle.
Town were then awarded a free kick in the 70 th minute for a professional foul. Fisher took the shot and swung the ball over the wall and it curved round and just cleared the crossbar.
It was squeeky bum time with 15 minutes to go, Farsley were again awarded a free kick for a tackle on Nightingale. Walker stepped up to take the kick, it went over the wall and was straight on target until it met Hagreen's fist and it went up and over and the crossbar.
Town then replaced Henry with Steve Hollingworth. With nine minutes to go Town created another chance with James Hurtley crossing for Haigh to head in but Taylor just caught the ball under his body. In the fourth minute of added time Boafo should well and truly have sealed the game as he was on his own in the Farsley half and with just Taylor to beat, but he took the ball right up to the Farsley custodian who made a well timed snatch off his feet.
