Ossett Albion 0-1 Farsley Celtic - Report

Farsley Celtic's five game unbeaten run came to end with a defeat at Dimple Wells. Report by Thomas Ritchie

Farsley Celtic were brought back down to Earth with a bump after their 7-0 defeat of Witton Albion, as Ossett Albion prevailed 1-0 in a scrappy game.

Despite this, Farsley had the first clear cut opportunity of the game as Josh Grant crossed for Aiden Savory, but he could only direct his header over the bar. Farsley continued to pressurise and had another opportunity as Paul Walker played in Robbie O'Brien who fired just over the bar. Farsley had their best chance of the first half just after the half hour mark as Robbie O'Brien's effort was saved low down by Brett Souter, who also recovered to keep out Walker's rebound. Albion started to get a foothold in the game and had a glorious chance as Connor Bower raced through on goal only for Celts' 'keeper Tom Taylor to get a decisive touch on the ball to keep the scores level. Moments before halftime Ossett took the lead as Connor Brunt curled a freekick beautifully into the top corner.

Early on in the second half O'Brien saw his shot was well saved by Souter, and in the same attack Ross Daly hit the post from close range as Farsley pushed for an equaliser. The second half became a very scrappy affair with the referee failing to control the game, yet Ossett had a chance to double their lead through Eddie Birch as his shot was saved by Tom Taylor from close range. The final chance of the match fell to Birch as he fired goalwards, but Taylor got down well to make the save.
