In hot and humid conditions, the Celts won their opening fixture of the 2016/17 pre-season with a 3-0 win at West Yorkshire neighbours, Hemsworth MW 3-0.
During a first-half in which the Celts controlled the game with some excellent possession and one-touch football, they established a two goal lead through efforts from Paul Walker and James Walshaw.
The Celts opened the scoring on thirteen minutes when the industrious Paul Walker, strode up and slammed home a free-kick from the left hand-side of the box. Farsley's pressure during the opening forty-five minutes was further rewarded six minutes before the break, when the ever dangerous James Walshaw, calmly fired home.
For the second-half, the Celts rotated their four substitutes in order to fully utilise the squad in this pre-season opener. The home team did threaten more during the second period, however, with the temperature taking its toll on Hemsworth during the final ten minutes, and the Celts dominating with good retention of the ball and controlling the pace of the game, Peter Davidson added a third goal.
The Celts were good value for their 3-0 win and now turn their attention to their next pre-season fixture on Saturday at Yorkshire Amateur.
