We are delighted to announce the loan signing of Manchester United U21 goalkeeper Tom Wooster!

Paul Barthorpe provides the following update after Tom’s arrival.

This process has been on going for some time as Pav and Jake (our goalkeeping coach) have for some weeks been ruling the roost over a number of different options, some of whom have been for us pre-season.

Last season we took Zan on a season-long loan from Everton and he was outstanding for us. Not only did it help us form a working relationship with a premier league club, but it gave us a top talent who undoubtedly was one of if not the best goalkeeper in the league! So for us that is a tried and tested formula, so we will repeat it.

Big boots to fill indeed…

And we believe we have the man to fill those boots!

Tom has appeared for us in the last three pre-season friendlies and has impressed both on and off the field, and goes straight into our match-day squad for tomorrow’s season opener.

Tom was picked up by Manchester United at U18 level from Barnsley, and has progressed with them to their U21’s, enjoying loans with Ramsbottom and more recently Macclesfield Town.

Hats off to Pav and Jake for this, in taking their time and finding the right fit for us! And thank you to Manchester United for their help and support in getting this done!
